The indie beauty market continues to grow, and this year, more than 280 brands have been nominated for the annual Indie Beauty Expo Awards. Their products will be evaluated on functionality, packaging, ingredients, and more. The winners will be announced in January 2019.
From surprising uses for seaweed to personalized supplements, here are a few stand-out nominees making waves in the beauty industry.
1. The Seaweed Bath Company | Best Bath Product, Best Bar Soap
This popular seaweed-based skincare line is currently nominated for Best In Show in two Indie Beauty Expo categories. Their products make bath time feel like a trip to the beach. The Seaweed Bath Company’s skin and haircare lines are formulated with hand-harvested organic Maine seaweed, Marine Tri-Peptide, and their patented AlgaDerm complex, which all work to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and increase collagen production for brighter, softer skin. Highlights from their collection include the popular Exfoliating Detox Body Soap and the Whole Seaweed Detox Bath.
2. Vital Proteins | Best Ingestible
Healthy skin starts on the inside, and Vital Proteins makes it easy for anyone to get a glow by boosting their collagen intake. Their collagen is sourced from pasture-raised cows and wild-caught fish. From collagen creamer to bone broth to matcha mix, Vital Proteins has something to suit every taste. They also stock nutritious supplements like spirulina, beef liver, and whey protein, and for a limited time, they’re offering a holiday sampler with mini collagen creamers, peptides, and matcha blend.
3. Province Apothecary | Best Clean Ingredient Brand
The organic Canadian skincare brand Province Apothecary was founded by holistic esthetician and aromatherapist Julie Clark. All Province Apothecary products are vegan and cruelty-free, and the production is powered by renewable energy. Every batch of new products is personally formulated, blended, and packaged by Clark, and she uses only high quality, organic ingredients sourced from farms across Canada. Current highlights from their skincare line include the Healing Eczema Balm, Jade Face Roller, Full Brow Serum, and Clear Skin Advanced Spot Concentrate.
4. Hum Nutrition | Best Ingestible
Hum Nutrition is all about cultivating inner beauty: their supplements are intended to help fix skin, hair, and nail woes by healing the root cause. The brand has a unique approach to helping consumers. First, you can take an online quiz to determine what you may need help with, and then you’ll receive a free nutritionist report detailing your recommended supplements. All of their products are gluten and GMO-free, and their ingredients are sustainably sourced. With colorful packaging and punny names like Gut Instinct probiotic and Turn Back Time anti-aging formula, these supplements definitely stand out.
