Sundays are well spent for the co-founders of Plant People, a New York-based startup that offers premium high-performance CBD across a range of products.
We caught up with Gabe Kennedy and Hudson Gaines-Ross to see how they approach the start of the workweek. Read on to discover how they Start It Sunday.
Q: What does your Sunday routine look like?
Gabe Kennedy: I don’t set my alarm and instead just listen to my body. When I wake up, I spend an extra moment in bed, allowing myself to sit (or lay) with the luxury of not rushing anywhere. I then get up, shake my body, and do a 20-minute meditation; acting like a lizard, I seek the sun. I then make some coffee, hang out with my girlfriend, go on a walk, listen to some tunes, and hit the market and grab some food for the week. Then I will cook a nice meal while dancing. I may watch a movie, have some tea, and then it’s early to bed/early to rise for a new productive week.
Hudson Gaines-Ross: Sunday is my full day of rest. I don’t sacrifice Sundays with work. I just stroll and let it all flow.
Q: How do you approach the start of each work week?
GK: I wake up between 6:30-7 am, meditate for 20 minutes with my phone on airplane mode, get a good sweat in, and then get into the office early. I like to take a moment to see what’s on the docket and if there is anything I can close from the week prior and plan for the upcoming push. Then I jump right into it with the team, syncing on goals and then setting out to tackle them.
HG: I wake up at 6:30 am, head to the gym for an hour, shower, turn my phone on, and go right into answering emails with a RISE coffee to get moving. Then it’s a day of meetings and calls! I love what I do.
Q: What are some tips for motivating on Monday?
GK + HG: No distractions. But we have no problem staying motivated these days because we are so stoked on what we’re creating. To be completely candid, we don’t even really look at the days of the week. Every day is an opportunity to learn, grow, hustle and make dreams a reality.
