Indie Beauty Expo is headed to Los Angeles for a two-day event that will kick off on Wednesday. The event will be hosted at California Market Center and will bring together industry professionals for the largest exposition of thoughtfully curated independently owned beauty brands.
We sat down with ForceBrands’ Client Strategist Alaina Bavelas (our resident BeautyForce expert) to get an inside peek at the new products to look out for, the trends that are no longer in hot demand, and more. Read on to sneak peek Indie Beauty Expo 2018 in Los Angeles.
“Look for supplements and ingestible beauty — it’s not just about skincare and traditional beauty products anymore, it’s about the wellness and personal care space as a whole,” Bavelas said. “Anthropologie has already scooped up a couple of these kinds of brands ahead of the expo.”
While there will be a host of up-and-coming brands showcasing their latest products, some trends are no longer here to stay — like matte lipstick.
“I feel like everyone’s done it,” Bavelas said about the highly pigmented lipstick fad. “I’m looking forward to seeing if there’s anything that will replace it — if there’s someone doing eye shadows or foundation differently. I’m always excited to see what people come up with that will spark the next trend.”
Aside from discovering new beauty trends, Bavelas, who has attended multiple Indie Beauty Expos, uses the events to connect with the people behind some of the newest most innovative brands.
“I’m excited to create some really great relationships,” Bavelas said. “It’s always fun to meet the newcomers to this industry so down the line we can be as helpful as possible when it comes to building their team.”
Indie Beauty Expo will host three more events in Dallas, New York, and London before the end of the year.
