The United States is currently considered the most valuable beauty and personal care market in the world. In 2017, the market was worth $86.134 million — 2018 is expected to close out even higher than that with an estimated valuation of $89.706 million. This expansive market sees an uptick in the fall and winter when consumers are switching up their beauty routines.
We’ve consulted our team of BeautyForce experts to round up some of the best beauty brands that are heating up this fall. And bonus — many of them are actively hiring, too.
1. Beautycounter
Beautycounter is a brand with a mission. The company has a “never list,” which contains more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals that they’ve guaranteed will never be used in their products. They’ve also allocated a massive amount of their energy for efforts that would change the federal laws (last updated in 1983) as to what chemicals should be allowed in cosmetic products. Their Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion won an Allure “Best of Beauty” award, and their lipsticks are renowned for their creamy, hydrating formula.
2. Bliss
Believing that inner happiness leads to outward beauty, Bliss is dedicated to creating products that are super positive, unfussy, and always look and smell delicious. They want their consumers to feel as if they can really press pause on their lives while using them. Founded in 1996, the brand started off as a luxurious, spa-only brand, but they’ve recently expanded their line and can now be found in major retailers like Target. An added bonus? All products are PETA certified and cruelty-free.
3. Glossier
Glossier’s New York City showroom often has a line down the block full of beauty mavens after the cult favorite milky jelly cleanser or a fresh new tube of cloud paint. Started by Emily Gloss, the founder of the widely followed beauty blog Into The Gloss, Glossier is intently costumer focused — a move that has more than paid off (the brand just closed on an additional $52 million in funding). Their new zit stick is perfect for those seasonal breakouts, and their boy brow will make you fall in love with doing your eyebrows all over again. And if you find yourself in need of some #fallbeautyinspo then be sure to check out their Instagram. If you’re interested in working at Glossier, check out our job board to browse open roles.
4. hims
A relative newcomer to the beauty scene, hims is all about breaking down the social misconception that men shouldn’t care about their looks or practice self-care. Offering everything from hair products to wrinkle cream to daily vitamins, Hims is a one-stop-shop for everything men need when it comes to personal care. All of their products come in simple, discreet, and streamlined packaging — no frills here.
5. Vital Proteins
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body, but it’s also one that our body can’t synthesize enough of on its own. Vital Proteins offers the best natural, minimally processed and clean solution. Their supplements help keep skin clear and glowing, allow hair to grow longer and more lustrous, and promote good gut and joint health all without the addition of any toxic chemicals. What more could you ask for? Truly promoting beauty from the inside out, Vital Proteins just released a new matcha-based supplement and a whole range of collagen creamers — including a delicious gingerbread flavor. Their YouTube channel also offers a host of delicious recipes, from smoothies to desserts, that incorporate the collagen powder.
